I've just updated my sidebar image.
It is the most famous temple in Kyoto, Japan: Kinkaku-ji, or "The Golden Temple".
They said it is really made from gold.

I took the picture during the 18-kippu winter trip, Day 2, on December 2010.
I didn't literally "took" the picture, though: it was processed in a software, using 5 original photos taken in different exposure.
That's what you called a HDR (high dynamic range) picture.
